American Gold Buffalo

by on 2012/07/09

The American Buffalo, also known as a gold buffalo, is a 24-karat gold bullion coin first offered for sale by the United States Mint on June 22, 2006, and available for shipment beginning on July 13. The coin follows the greatly admired design of the Indian Head nickel and has gained its nickname from the American Bison on the reverse side of the design. This was the first time ever that the United States Government has minted pure (.9999) 24-karat gold coins for the public.[1] The coin has a legal tender (face) value of US.

If anything you might get a couple of dollars extra for the sealed one if that. Unless its a highly collectable coin it doesn’t matter.

I see that you have 2 Gold Buffalo coins, one in the sealed US Mint wrapper and the other in a air tite holder. Does the value get affected is you remove the coin from the seal US Mint wrapper?

Most of my coins were bought at APMEX and some at local dealers.
Gainsville coins is another good dealer. Remember you’ll always be paying spot price… where you might save a bit is on the premium. Don’t worry about saving $20 bucks… You gotta get in somewhere. Best bet is to buy on the dips… like now.
Good Luck and thanks for Watching!

They sell these in fractions now too. I only have American eagles. But I do have a 24k 1 oz maple. I am planning on getting one of these buffalo coins soon. America’s first four nines gold coin. For thoughts of you out here that are asking questions about the coin should check out a copy of the 2012 U.S. coin (red book) book from your local library. You will learn more than you want to know.

Sorry I don’t know.
I suggest trying a coin shop to have it evaluated.

Well, if it has COPY stamped on it, what would the estimated value be? Please reply fast!!! I subscribed & liked :)

SilverGoldCollection July 9, 2012 at 11:23 PM

Coins stamped with the word ‘COPY’ are usually a copy, replica or reproduction.
If you are not sure of the metal content of the coin take it to a coin dealer to test.

The coin has a face value of $50… so spending it for face value makes little sense.
but you can cash it in for $1,738 (price of gold right now per oz)

But I’m holding for much higher !

TheSpritePlate July 10, 2012 at 2:05 AM

can you spend it?

I like these videos. It would be neat to see one with all the different australian kangaroos…or a website with all the images of the different kangaroos.
